One of the first questions couples ask me is “Where should we get married on the Outer Banks?”. That’s kind of a loaded question because if you’ve ever been here you know that there are many options and it just depends on what you like.

5 Of The Top OBX Wedding Venues

The barrier island here run about 200 miles from the with Virginia border all the way down to the island of Ocracoke and there the beautiful wedding ceremony spots are to numerous to count. But…I do have a few suggestions!

In no specific order, here are 5 of the very best OBX wedding ceremony sites.

#1 The Beach Closest to Your Outer Banks Lodging.

The beach is the beach! There is no special piece of land by the ocean where all the couples go to be married. It’s all spcial and it’s all beautiful! Carova! Duck! Nags Head! Waves! Buxton! It’s all gorgeous and so powerful when standing next to the Atlantic Ocean.

No special permit is needed to use the beach for a wedding unless you are down on the Hatteras National Seashore. So find the house, hotel, or resort of your choice and know that your beach right there is Yours!!!

#2 The Sanderling Resort & Spa

This is truly one of the diamond locations on the Outer Banks. Found in the township of Duck, it has the unique combination of both ocean and sound options for your wedding day.

If you love 5 star customer care, this place is amazing. Multiple pools, excellent spa, dining, and more. To team with the outstanding wedding planners there (Debbie, Taylor, and Wendy) is a pleasure for me every time!

#3 The 4X4 Area – Carova

Yes, the horses literally roam free up in the 4×4 area north of Corolla, and they are amazing. Sort of surreal, actually. You’ve got to have 4 wheel drive for this area of the Outer Banks, and the beaches there are typically quite wide. Many of the event homes in Carova are huge and can handle very large groups.

#4 Rent a Beach House of Your Own

Does it get any better than to know on your wedding day that the only thing you have to do is have a glass of wine, put your dress on, and walk out your back door barefoot onto the beach and get married!?!! Awesome!

There are beach houses all along the Outer Banks, from the giant homes in Pine Island, to the little beach boxes in Nags Head, all with their own pluses. Do yourself a favor and spoil yourself for the wedding…get a house on the beach!

#5 The Kitty Hawk Hilton Garden Inn

Another diamond wedding location on the beach is the Kitty Hawk Hilton Garden Inn. Very popular because of the unique “Pier House”, it offers not only an immediate place for the reception, but also a killer Plan B in case of weather.

The customer care is excellent with wedding planners that genuinely care (Robin & Miha). Close to everything you need, and everything you would expect from a Hilton.

The Outer Banks is truly one of America’s best destination wedding locations and the venue choices are are incredible.  If you need any help deciding which spot is right for your ceremony, please contact your Outer Banks Wedding Officiant.
